CYCLING WHICH IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH.

Cycling is fun, fast, green and healthy. That’s why I want you to spend more time pedalling. Cycling kids are confident kids, more independent and brainier to boot. Just 15 minutes cycling to work or school could make a real difference to your fitness, establishing habits of healthy activity that could be life-long.

Cycling makes you fitter, more alert, cleverer A more active lifestyle now, continued into adulthood, would greatly improve your child’s chance of living a long and healthy life. Physical inactivity is a far greater cause of heart disease than smoking, yet we take it much less seriously. Daily exercise has many immediate benefits as well. They include improved bone strength, muscle tone, healthier joints, increased alertness and improved academic performance. Teachers often comment that children who walk or cycle to school arrive brighter and more ready to learn than those driven by car, and a recent US study showed a positive link between physical activity and performance in school tests.
 
And don’t let the kids have all the fun, cycle with your children to school. Use the ’school run’ as the kick-start to better health you’ve been planning for ages. Cycling to school will save you money on busfares or petrol and is often quicker than getting into the car and getting snarled up in traffic.
 
There are many million empty seats on the UK’s roads every day. Why not ‘make the most of it’ by sharing lifts? There are also millions empty seats on the UK’s roads every day. Commuters should be nice to bike riders, I use my bike EVERY day to work, and any free time. The days are starting to get longer and the weather is getting warmer. Spring is one of the best times of the year to get back on your bike or to start cycling for the first time. There’s nothing better than passing these cars when the traffic is bad. This cycle track on Beacon Hill Road-London Road, Newark, to Newark Nothgate Station. This been a life line to the good people that use the cycle track each day.
 
Cycling through the traffic – it’s good for the environment and great for your health, I happy to use it each day. On traffic-free routes, particularly in the Newark areas, we are seeing a very significant uptake in use.
 
The benefits of cycling are far-reaching… Not only does it allow YOU to save time and money, but there are massive benefits to your health and environment too.
 
Cycling to work or have your Children is a very good going to school is sociable. Cycling encourages independence for me which I have been do for around Newark for the last 11 years.

There are very few people whose death can be said to have shocked the whole world.

All of this will never be known but what is known is that 31 August 1997 is a …. I will never forget the morning.

When the news of Princess Diana’s death broke, it seemed unbelievable and unthinkable.
I was going into work that Sunday morning as a carer and heard about the death of Dianna.  Yet, ten years on, it seems not much has changed. … Our Princess will forever be remember as a caring, loving human being..

Diana Princess of Wales was an inspirtaion to all, her warm caring nature, … A pure English Rose who will always be in our hearts and be  loved and never forgotten for years to come. We should all make an effort to help those less fortunate than we are – many people who will have nothing with which to celebrate the new year.

We need protection from violence, exploitation and abuse for Asylum & Immigration to the UK

Illegal immigrants amnesty call is needed badly

It would be interesting to know of peoples views about  migrants  Newark local paper, 23rd November 2007. Lorry loads of misery two of 15 illegal immigrants brought into the UK this week were found close to death after being locked in lorries for four days with no light and little water.  This topic has been brought to the forefront thanks to your reporting  in our local weekly news paper.Trafficking is a violation of fundamental exploitation and abuse in the first place. We need rights for young and older people coming to the UK.

Giving an amnesty to illegal immigrants people living illegally in the UK could raise billards in taxes.

I personal believe asylum seekers have a right of refuge, and that immigrants are important to the Newark and the UK economically and provide diverse communities. Let’s Campaigners and call for better treatment of asylum seekers wanting to work and better processing system.

 Some people  might believe Britain cannot cope with the number of immigrants and asylum seekers coming into the country, and call for tighter regulation. Some also feel immigration is causing Britain to lose its cultural identity.

I challenge all churches, faith communities, development agencies and  government, local and national to work hand in hand for the good of all.

  • Citizens in the European Union and the European Economic Area are allowed to live, work and study in the UK without having to obtain special permission.

If people who have been working continuously in the UK for four years with a work permit, and who are still required by their employer, can apply for ‘indefinite leave to remain. They are considered to be permanently settled. After five years living in the UK, or three years if they are married to someone from the UK, foreign nationals can apply to naturalise as British citizens.
Those who came to the UK under the highly skilled migrant programme can also apply for indefinite leave to remain after they have been resident for four years.

 

The cost of finding and deporting illegal immigrants would be outweighed by the gains from taxing them in the first place.

Your initiatives as a way of retaining and attracting quality people, particularly in the current labour market to come and join us. However they often do not have an invite or say regarding local politics for the good for our community and service to the people. We need your resources or expertise to implement them in Newark.. We would like to setup an office once again after not having one for six years.

I believe passionately that the highest kind of service a person can give to their community is serving   

I also believe that Members of community have a moral duty to provide strong leadership to the younger generation and to prepare them for future roles & responsibilities.  Furthermore, we requires several strong and credible voices to promote the  inclusive approach that recognizes all people in all walks of life.

More bright, young under 35-year-olds are needed on local councils across the country to make them more representative of the area.

Council is risk becoming a Council for over 70’s, with increasingly ageing Councillors led by an unchallenged old guard.

We have just two who are under 28 on Newark Town council chamber.  Newark & Sherwood District Council we have non. We have a missing generation of people in the 18-30 age group.  Let’s put life into Newark town, let’s encourage younger talent around the Country.

Finding it hard to recruit candidates for local government talent is all around us we are just not looking in the right places.

Research shows the average age of councillors has risen to 57, with almost 40% retired. The average councillor in England and Wales is 57-years-old, white and retired, I am 59. Most are in there late 60’s or 70’s.

It is now time we be talent spotters of the young and those under 30 who have the potential to become local leaders  in a few years time.

We can’t see how someone in their 60’s or 70’s can easily represent the views of someone who is a teenager or in their 20s.

SUPER WARDENS ARE NEEDED

SUPER WARDENS ARE NEEDED 

Let’s give traffic wardens when we get them hopefully in 2008.

These super wardens with speed guns and giving them licence to patrol proposed 30mph zones on Beacon Hill Road and around Newark Town.  Stop racing to take your Child to School each day.

 I will welcome this as a parent, more powers will be most welcome. 

Speed restriction is needed on Beacon Hill Road. These new wardens will help ensure that these limits are adhered to with the help of police and Councils in our area.

The introduction of speed cameras allied to other traffic-calming measures  should be introduced in Newark Town. This will provided us with a road safety record that is right thing to do. The success of strategically-placed speed cameras which are slowing motorists down in around Nottinghamshire.

These motorists are racing into Newark Town for to long, why should this be acceptable

Bussiness Park will be coming real soon  

Reason for deciding to concentrate on Beacon Hill Road, Newark the increased traffic volumes brought about by more drivers which will be using this dangerous  Road.

Many are speeding each day to the misery for residents the increased number of vehicles in the area which is making families with children even more vulnerable than they are already.

These irresponsible motorists who double park on yellow lines and near Schools.  I  repeatedly called for tougher sanctions on safety grounds.

They should be able to hand out on-the-spot fines to drivers..

Let them also  be able to arrange to have cars which are causing an obstruction towed away.

The police response to this problem should pledge this to all residents in Newark.  Perhaps between them they will finally eradicate this dangerous and thoughtless practice for once and for all.

There are no Park & Ride sites in the Newark area

 Let’s encourage you to ditch your car and let the bus or train take the strain? park and ride scheme designed to get people to leave their cars out of the Town centre is neededd.Park & Ride is needed to allows commuters, coming into Newark, to enjoy stress free travel and beat the queues. It also allows visitors and shoppers to take the direct route to the heart of theNewark.

There are no Park & Ride sites in the Newark area.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was an African-American clergyman who advocated social change through non-violent means. A powerful speaker and a man of great spiritual strength, he shaped the American civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. In 1963 leaders of the civil rights movement decided to organize what became known as the March on Washington DC for Jobs and Freedom.

Most newspapers in the States condemned the idea of a mass march on Washington DC. If Martin Luther King, Jr together with other leaders persist in their announced plans to march 100,000-strong on the capital they will be jeopardizing their cause, 28th August, 1963, was a great success..

King was the final speaker and made his famous I have a Dream speech.

That has been described as one of the most important speeches in the history of the United States.

Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we’ve come to our nation’s capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the “unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.”

But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we’ve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro’s legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. [Applause] There will be neither rest nor tranquillity in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: in the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. [Applause] We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, “When will you be satisfied?”

We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro’s basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating “for whites only.” We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. Some of you have come from areas where your quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed. Let us not wallow in the valley of despair.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification,” one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. This will be the day, this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim’s pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that: Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
